Speaker Announcement – John Robb

Lancashire local, vocalist, musician, TV presenter, writer, journalist, and TEDxSalford 1.0 star – John Robb is a man of many talents, and we’re pleased to announce his welcome return to the stage at the bigger and better TEDxSalford 2.0.
Vocalist for punk band Goldblade since he formed the band in 1995, after playing with The Membranes since 1977, John Robb has had a long musical career that continues to this day. He has recorded eight studio albums with Goldblade, and they continue to play live around the world, touring extensively and appearing at major festivals such as Reading and Glastonbury. He released six albums with The Membranes after forming the band in sixth form in Blackpool.
As well as his musical talents, John makes frequent appearances on television, starring in shows such as Channel 4′s Top 100 programmes, the BBC’s I Love the 60s/70s/80s/90s series and Seven Ages of Rock, and The Culture Show on BBC2. He has also made appearances in various news and documentary shows about music and punk culture.
He is an accomplished writer, too, being a music journalist for various fanzines and newspapers across the span of his career. He is also a published author, having written a biography of the Stone Roses, and the best-selling Punk Rock: An Oral History. John’s bibliography can be .
