Magicians and tricksters are connoisseurs of psychology and the human mind. Illusions and mind tricks can teach us about the brain and how it works. Whatever behind those surprising performances, the subtlety and dexterity of a skilled magician is pleasing to follow.

To warm up for TEDxSalford 2.0 and the magician Paul Zenon’s performance, I picked up a collection of impressive acts related to magic and illusions happened in TED over the years.

  1. Brain Magic by Keith Barry

Diverting the attention of his audience, Keith shows how our minds are easy to trick, once you know how.

  1. Powerful Visual Illusions by Al Seckel

Visual illusions never cease to amaze. Cognitive neuroscientist Al Seckel shows you how our brain misinterprets visual information given to us in form of illusions.

  1. The Magic of the Placebo by Eric Mead

Mentalist Eric Mead got inspired by the fact how strong a placebo effect can be and utilises it in his gory trick. (Watch and learn an easy and impressive magic trick!)

  1. Arthur Benjamin Does “Mathemagic” by Arthur Benjamin

Combining his passions in magic and mathematics, Arthur shows mind-blowing mathematical agility.

  1. Close-Up Card Magic with a Twist by Lennart Green

After seeing this performance by card whizz Lennart Green, you won’t look at the cards the same way anymore.

Join us in TEDxSalford 2.0 for a magical experience with Britain’s top trickster Paul Zenon and many others. Tickets will be soon available: to stay updated, follow TEDxSalford on , or join the mailing list.
