David Erasmus is a serial entrepreneur who is passionate about creating a better global future. He is the founder and CEO of Givey – a revolutionary donation platform that allows Gift Aided micro-donations through Twitter, SMS and other social applications to over 6,000 charities. This encourages people to support charities they care about ‘on the go’ with instant low friction donations while connecting with like-mined supporters.

Why giving is better than porn. The world of giving and porn is closer than you might think: It’s our need to connect with other humans.

David was born in South Africa, moved with his parents to Wales when he was a baby and has lived in England since age of four. He grew up on a council estate and started earning his own money by pushing trolleys in a supermarket at age 15.

During his career he successfully built and sold two new media agencies in UK and South Africa. He is an inspirational speaker on leadership development, innovation and giving.

One of the  biggest mistakes leaders make is when they spend all their efforts telling people ‘what’ rather than spending more time empowering them with the ‘why’.

David believes that everyone can become an entrepreneur. However, education and exposure are necessary to build the confidence that it is achievable. For people who have an idea for a start-up, David shares five simple tips to get to gain connections and get help within a few days without spending more than £100:

  1. Define the problem you are interested in and which affects you personally.
  2. Talk with at least 10 people who know something about the problem.
  3. Decide on the best idea that provides a solution.
  4. Draw some pictures of what your solution will look like. Brainstorm a name of your idea in one hour and thereafter register the name, get hosting, create logo and email address.
  5. Go back to your 10 connections and ask for their feedback and any advice. Ask if they know someone you should speak to.

Among many events David Erasmus has spoken at Thinking Digital, TEDxBrighton and . You can follow David on , connect with him on and read more about him on his homepage.
