Audrey (David Nicholas Jasper) de Grey is known for his highly controversial statements about why we age and how we should prevent it, as well as his astonishingly long beard. He is a computer scientist, researcher and self-taught biogerontologist, which means Aubrey studies biological phenomena associated with old age and aging.

Speaker Announcement – Simon Singh

Simon Singh is known for promoting mathematics and science to the general public. He is a science journalist, best-selling book author and TV producer, and he is also our first speaker to be announced for November’s TEDxSalford 3.0 event.
Simon grew up in Wellington, Somerset and went to the Imperial College London where he studied physics before completing his PhD in particle physics at Cambridge University. From 1990 to 1997 Simon joined the BBC’s Science Department as a producer and director for many programs such as ‘Tomorrow’s World’, ‘Horizon’ and the BAFA award-winning (and Emmy nominated) documentary ‘Fermat’s Last Theorem’ (in United States titled: ‘The Proof’). When I started my PhD I often heard my internal voice saying: ‘I don’t deserve to be here, the others know so much about their topics and I have no clue’.
