Admit it – at some point in your life you have thought about being a superhero. Whether it is the ability to fly like Superman, regenerate like Wolverine or teleport in space and time like Hiro Nakumara, superhuman abilities have always seemed to fascinate us. The Problems and Pleasures of Mathematics

Mathematics for me as a child was a thing of nightmares. Times tables were terrifying and algebra dizzying. It completely eluded me for a long time. Well, to be honest, it still does, I have no skill for maths. But at least now I can see its beauty and its importance.

Heavy metal is a widely misunderstood style of music, often written off as noise by those who haven’t given it a proper listen. And to a degree this can be understandable. It is a vast and complicated style which has genres as different as night and day from each other. The names of its different sub-genres can be just as mind-boggling: black metal, death metal, power metal, thrash metal, folk metal, symphonic metal, glam metal and grindcore, just to name a few.
