TEDxSalford 2.0 – Our Delegates

As I’m sure most of you will agree, TEDxSalford 2.0 was a resounding success. Organising such an eclectic array of speakers and entertainers, from all walks of life, under one roof was no mean feat. The team behind TEDxSalford 2.0 deserve to be applauded for all their hard work in planning the event, and for executing it to such a high standard on the day. Soon after, TEDxSalford was dubbed the ‘biggest and best’ TEDx event in the UK and was the 4th largest event of its kind in the world – statistics worth savouring. The Lowry, a beacon of Salford’s industrial past and bright future, was a befitting venue for an event of such high calibre, and with a sell-out crowd, the Lowry’s 1600+ seat Lyric Theatre was bursting at the seams!
This brings me nicely onto the subject of our delegates, without whom such a successful day would not have been possible. The audience play a key role in how well the speaker or entertainer is able delivers their message – the famed 19th century English writer William Hazlitt once wrote “If you give an audience a chance they will do half your acting for you” – that’s not to say our speakers were actors, in fact they were real people with real stories to tell and experiences to share, however, the positive energy exuded from the delegates definitely left a mark on those who came on stage. One of the speakers, , tweeted after the event that:
“Speaking atmakes my Top 10 career highlights.”
To be in the ‘Top 10 career highlights’ of a person who has had their fair share of ‘career highlights’, is a wonderful achievement in itself – and it’s all thanks to our delegates.
