Speaker Announcement – Lucy Siegle

We are delighted and excited to announce that Lucy Siegle will be joining us on stage for TEDxSalford 3.0. Lucy is a British journalist and writer, known for her environmental reporting on the BBC’s The One Show and her ethical living column in the Observer. She is the latest speaker set to talk to you at November’s biggest UK TEDx event, for which early bird tickets have just gone on sale.

Lucy has had a dazzling career as a journalist. She joined the Observer in 2000, where she has been a columnist since 2004, and has made her voice heard in publications ranging from the Times, the New Statesman, Marie Claire and Grazia, as well blogging for the Huffington Post.

Commissioning editors at the BBC recognised her talent for playful authority and she was asked to present a five part series on recycling for a new prime time magazine show: The One Show. She has since become a real favourite with the team and audience alike and is one of the longest standing members of the One Show family.

On top of all this of this Lucy has authored two books and co-authored one, these are:

  1. Green Living in the Urban Jungle (Author. How to be and eco-friendly urbanite)
  2. To Die For (Author. Examining the impact of fashion on the environment)
  3. A Good Life (Co-Author. A guide to ethical living)

Over her career Lucy has explored subjects as diverse as the rise in popularity of naked photo-shoots, rescuing trout, and forest fires. She has passion and enthusiasm for sustainability and can communicate complex ideas about her subject in a way that resonates with the concerns of day to day life.

Once again, we are very pleased to announce that Lucy will be speaking on stage at TEDxSalford 3.0 hosted at the Lowry Complex, Salford Quays, Greater Manchester, on 10th November 2013. Martin is a Manchester based writer; he was one winner of National Flash Fiction day 2012, a finalist in BBC playwriting competition Write by the Quays, and short-listed for Student Journalist of the Year while he was at Uni. His fictions have been published by Blank Media, Bad Language, and TwentyTwo. He works in a bookshop.
